Oklahoma City…Drop It Like Its Hot

The other day, my friend has this idea to take a road trip so on Friday we piled into the car and headed north to Oklahoma City. I am sure its not the ideal tourist destination but it can definitely hold ones attention for the day. Our hotel was located right down town so we were able to walk to all of the attractions.

Saturday we started with the Botanical Gardens, they were a bit disappointing but at least they were on the way to our next stop. After the gardens we were off to the Museum of Art. It was excellent! My favorite part was their exhibit on Dale Chihuly glass, this is the same guy that did the ceiling in the Bellagio. Absolutely stunning! When I made a list of things I wanted to do on the trip Sara Sara Cupcakes toped it. So my willing friends walked the distance with me and we each partook in a cupcake. I had high hopes for Sara Sara’s but sadly they were not met. However the decor of the cafe was great, I was in love with all the white.

Friday night we had stopped and visited the Oklahoma City Bombing Memorial but we wanted to see it in the day time too. In terms of memorials, this memorial was great. Some of the symbolism was truly creative and thought provoking. While Heather and Branden toured the memorial museum I stayed outside to take it the beautiful weather and read a bit of my book.

We wrapped up our day with a canal cruise, visit to the state capitol, stop at OU and a lot of random pics. All in all it was a lovely 24 hr get away….please enjoy a selection of our pics!
